"Are You Saying We Read With Our EARS?"

“Are you Saying We See With our EARS?”
·      1. “I showed my teenager Mike, this new scientific research
that came to a weird conclusion about how we SEE.

·      2. “Pop, I don’t get it. We don’t just see with our eyes, the retina part, they say past experience and our expectation change the visual info, huh?”

·      3. “That’s why I’m showing to you. It is weird science. Should you believe it? Yes, neuroscientists for the last 5-years have been saying that Reading is Hearing overriding just Seeing.”

·      4. “Explain, you’re not saying reading is just hearing, but that Vision combines with Hearing, right Pop?”

·      5. “Right, our eyes do Not work alone. Credentials: University of Wisconsin-Madison, Professor Gary Lupyan. It’s dated August 26, 2013, in the journal, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. It’s the real-deal.”

·      6. “Now I read it Pop, it’s in plain English. It says, past visual experiences create our expectations, right? Then it adds the ‘weird-stuff’. Quote: “words play a powerful role in what we SEE.”

·      7. “Yeah, Language influences, affects what we see. Words we use to describe things changes what we see.

·      Example: if we are drinking ‘orange-juice’ and thinking about “milk”, our mind expects to taste ‘milk’. We experience what we expect. The juice tastes funny.”

·      8. “Excuse me, but So-What? How is this new research going to help me, Pop?”

·      9. “First, we have to pay attention, live-and-act in the here-and-now. Stop being robots, and use our consciousness. Keep things in Context, so reality reflects our expectations.

·      Accord to the scientists, what we understand is shaped by our knowledge & expectations. Even one-word can “alter” what we expect, and what we see. It means “labeling” ideas, people & things causes false emotional reactions.”

·      10. “Don’t get it.”

·       11. “Your mind changes your reality. Things are not Black-and-White, our thinking causes our emotions. Your emotions shape your Expectations. Ex. It’s not just another means of transportation (a car), it’s a Bentley or Rolls. Now you Value it differently.”

·      12. “Wait, now the sun is shining. When we LABEL anything, it is not just what we see because our mind adds emotion, experience & what we expect it to be. We value it differently. OK. Here’s my example.

·      Say I tell you the speaker is the son of Albert Einstein. That LABEL makes you listen to him with credibility, even if he’s a dummy. Why? The name causes an emotional leap. He has Einstein’s genes, and may be brilliant, right Pop?”

·      13. “Sonny, you get it better than the researchers. In reading our body participates by linking Eyes & Ears. Reading automatically moves your LARYNX (voice box). You cannot Read without Hearing the words on the page.”

·      It’s called subvocalization (your internal self-talk). But you do Not have to hear pronounced each-and-every word you read.

·      You can Consciously choose to each every second or third word. Why? Because hearing each word slows down to a snail’s pace, the speed of speech which is only 150 words per minute. SpeedReading is choosing to hear every second or third word.”

·      14. “I speedread all my textbooks, even use that “6-Wh-s & How” to double my memory. You saw my report card – I’m acing school.”

·      15. “And you’ll ace your career in college and later your career. Did you know the writer of Treasure Island, Stevenson was the first to explain the power of “Who? What? When? Where? Why? & Which? And “How?”

·      16. “Great. I’ll remember that. And that it makes me look like a brilliant star to my teachers.”
That’s it. See ya next time.

"You Are More Than Your Left-Brain"

“You are more than 65% Water & 18% Carbon, some Hydrogen, Calcium & Phosphorous, Huh?”
·      1. “I slept through Chemistry, so this is all new to me, Pop.”

·      2. “Me too. Like father, like son. Here’s what I remember from college Chem, which I failed. “Homo sapiens are Carbon-based life-forms, that require Oxygen to process Protein. And Trees take Carbon and turn it into Oxygen.”

·      3. “So what? - Who-cares? What’s In It for me? – Pop?”

·      4.  “Right. In just released research at the University of Pennsylvania, they reversed what scientists & the rest of us always believed.

·      Professor Justin Hepler, U of Illinois, lead author, reported, we do NOT Consciously stop ourselves from Temptation.

·       We can enlist our Subconscious, meaning Auto-pilot, to inhibit Overeating Cookies, or Encourage Exercise, or Quit Smoking. It works to quit Gambling or to lose Ten-Pounds too. Interested?”

·      5. “Can it help in acing my exams & grades, and later at-work?”

·      6. “Sure, learning & memory are strategic Habits as neural networks in your brain. This system is tested & proven. It appears in the Journal, Cognition.”

·      7. “Are you saying getting rid of bad habits, and creating New habits can happen without our Intention & awareness?”

·      8. “Exactly. Neuroscientist found that what happens in our Environment like hearing certain words, can influence our self-control. They use an example of overhearing someone say, “Calm-Down!” will affect you to stop eating a dozen cookies.”

·      9. “You mean in an “unrelated-conversation, Pop?”

·      10. “That’s the weird part. It’s like you have a “post-hypnotic suggestion” and your world is trying to help you win.”

·      11. “Like what other words?”

·      12. “If you see a Sign (billboard) that says, “Stop!” or “Be Calm”, or hear someone say, “Rest!” or “Peace” or “Success”, you react to it, even if it’s in a song on the radio.

·      The deal is that your brain’s self-control processes react to keep-you-on-track, subconsciously. It is proven by an EEG (Electroencephalograph) imagery.”

·      13. “What’s the secret formula, Pop?”

·      14. “It’s easy and quick. You heard of it. V-A-K. The power of combining your three (3) power Senses. Visual-Auditory-Kinesthetic (tactile/touch). Remember?”

·      15. “Sure, I use it to take Notes at lectures, and summarizing the main ideas in books. That one?”

·      16. The strategy when you want to lose 10 pounds or stop-smoking or drinking alcohol or drugs, is to write or type twice-daily for 3-minutes Affirmations using the power words.”

·      17. “When I write or use my word-processor, that involves my eyes, visual, my hearing, auditory, and my moving hand, for sense of touch. V-A-K. I have to include words in the affirmations like: ‘Stop’- ‘Be Calm’- ‘Rest’- ‘Peace’.”

·      18. “Do you know about “Hypnagogic” (twilight zone before falling asleep), and “Hypnopompic, (twilight before awakening in the A.M.?”

·      19. “You told me 100 times. Anything done at those times programs your subconscious to become a habit, right Pop?”

·      20. “Do a “thought experiment” like Cousin Albert said, and you be the judge of your positive results or not.”

·      New research says, “Actions always Speed Louder than “words”.” For Brainiacs: George Mather, University of Lincoln, in the U.K.”

·      21. “What’s the point, Pop?”

·      22. “Our brain uses visual signals to make sense of our environment. Example: facial expressions on people. Your right-brain picks up on Patterns are recognizes them from the past.

·      You can depend on your subconscious to give you Hints and Hunches. Test your intuitions. Believe their Actions, more than their words, get it?”

“Tap-in, Turn-on, and Tune-in” to your right brain more.
See ya

“Brainiacs Say: Inspiration Attracts Your Goals”
·      1. “Michael, want to start every day like a Brainiac?”

·      2. “Pop, Is it quick & easy, I’m still recovering from the weekend?”

·      3. “You already know HOW to do it. It just arranging the steps into a strategy that wins you your goals. OK?”

·      4. “If I fall asleep, don’t embarrass me, right?”

·      5. “When you get interested in learning more, your brain goes into Beta brainwaves of alertness & arousal, and you cannot drift off. Please answer this.

·       Question: do you ever hear a little voice in your mind say, “No – you can’t!” when you’re thinking about doing something new?”

·      6. “Sure, but I don’t have to listen right?”

·      7. “Strategy. When you hear that “still-small-voice of your
Inner-Child”, all you do is Mentally repeat with feeling,
“Cancel! Cancel! Stop-Stop! - Delete-Delete!” One last step, mentally visualize yourself Doing exactly what you wanted to do before your heard, “No – you can’t!”

·      8. “That’s smart Pop – Cancel-Stop-Delete strengthens my Intent & Willpower, right?”

·      9. “Exactly. You know the words – Inspire, Inspiration, & Inspired, but did you know they mean “to breathe” from Latin.

·      Webster’s says, Inspire is to ‘draw-in-the-breath’, inhale. When someone ‘inspires’ you to try new ideas, beyond your ‘comfort-zone’.

·      ‘Inspiration’ draws breath into your lungs and oxygenates your brain for learning & memory improvement. Nice?”

·      10. “Like telling me about the gifts & talents I have, but not using?”

·      11. “Right again. Example: when we train people in Speed Reading, they are afraid of failing, and being embarrassed. Those kind of negative thoughts and feelings cause a stoppage (loss) of learning-skills & memory.”

·      12. “I know that one it’s called a “self-fulfilling-prophesy”, right Pop?”

·      13. “You got brains you Are using, Mike. There are two-baby-easy strategies you can do to enlist your Subconscious Mind on-your-side. Learning & memory are controlled by your Subconscious. So it’s important.”

·      14. “Remember, easy-and-quick, right Pop?”

·      15. “Whenever you want to reprogram your Subconscious, where memories are formed and stored, just do four Diaphragmatic-Breaths.

·      On exhaling, whisper, 4-Hum-ms. Four breaths & 16 Hum-ms takes 60 seconds & you go into Alpha relaxing brainwaves.”

·      16. “I use Diaphragmatic-Breathing before tests or standing up giving a presentation. It works, Pop. What else?”

·      17. There’s a link, a connection between Breathing and “Inspired”, right? Second step: Duchenne-Smile on your puss while mentally visualizing the goal you are working on.”

·      19. “Just remember, a real, genuine, authentic smile means showing you teeth and slightly squinting your eyes. Both are required to turn-on your Subconscious to your goal.”

·      20. “I can do that. And you really inspire me to Ace school.”

·      21. “You heard this before, but your Neural Network loves repetition, it strengthens your Synaptic Connections for improved retrieval from memory.

·      Repeat it aloud with me. “Learning is always about Doing. Not talking about doing. Not questions about doing. Not trying to do. Learning is about Doing.”

·      22. “What do you mean - doing?”

·      23. “Doing triggers Trial-and-Error, Cause-and-Effect, and Stimulus-Response. They all produce Feedback. When you are doing, you learn and improve your skills and memory. Get it kid?”

·      24. “Doing makes me remember my mistakes, and not repeat them, right Pop? Learn from my errors.”

·      25. “Right. Breathing & Smiling support positive beliefs. So what? When you believe you can, your Subconscious picks up on your strong beliefs, and Acts to make them a reality. Goals become facts.”

·      26. “Makes sense. I’ll Do it.”

·      27. When you mentally visualize a “Historical Success from your own history (graduating and being handed your diploma) or seeing the Yankees win. It inspires you, right?”

·      28. “Wait. And I think and feel, ‘If I did it before, I can win again. If those guys can do it, so can I. That’s inspiration, right?”

·      29. “You are Priming your success Pump. That creates subconscious Success Energy. That’s your Determined-Intent, and Will-Power. They move you to Ace school and your career.”

·      30. “I know I got it, Pop.”

·      31. “Mike, you are a hidden brainiac. Get Inspired & expand your comfort-zone. It’s easy and fast.”

See ya,
